Responsibilities of Board Members
 
  • To understand and support the mission of The Virginia Beach Foundation including reading and being familiar with the community foundation's by-laws.
  • To speak often and positively of The Virginia Beach Foundation whenever the opportunity presents itself.
  • To make a significant charitable commitment to The Virginia Beach Foundation during service on the Board of Directors:

- To contribute financially according to personal means to either the permanent or deferred endowment and to administrative funds;

- To recognize that fundraising is an essential responsibility of each Board Member and to participate in fundraising activities of The Virginia Beach Foundation;

- To serve in leadership positions or undertake special assignments willingly and enthusiastically when asked.

  • To attend a majority of the Board meetings and events sponsored by The Virginia Beach Foundation each year.
  • To be alert for opportunities that could benefit the community through The Virginia Beach Foundation, financially and otherwise.
  • To maintain independence and objectivity and do what a sense of fairness, ethics and personal integrity dictate even though not necessarily obliged to do so by law regulation or custom.
